Botox®️
For years Botox has helped so many men and women successfully treat wrinkles and facial creases. As people age, they long for a more youthful appearance. Botox is able to give them this.
Receiving Botox actually only takes a few short minutes, and anesthesia is not required. You will simply get injected with a fine needle into the specific muscle and feel only mild discomfort.
Our entire staff is dedicated to helping you. We want to ensure that you are happy with your results and that you never feel like you have any unanswered questions. We are here for you before and after your treatment.
Chemical Peels
A chemical peel is a technique used to improve and smooth the texture of your skin. The peel gently removes the outermost layer of the skin, leaving you with completely fresh, untouched skin. Results include even-toned, smooth, tightened, and refreshed skin.
Chemical peels can be used to treat acne scars, uneven pigmentation, rough skin, wrinkles, fine lines, and sun spots/damage.
How does it work?
Chemical peels are a safe and effective treatment to remove the outermost layers of skin in order to expose new, untouched skin. Your dermatologist will create a chemical mixture specifically tailored to your face and skin type to ensure the best results.
While patients can return to normal activities immediately after treatment, the skin is sensitive and should be makeup free and protected from the sun for at least 2-4 days. Most patients begin to experience peeling after 48 hours, which resolves itself in 2-5 days.
Dermal/Lip Fillers
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable gel-like substances used to treat a wide range of cosmetic issues in the face and hands, including diminished volume, fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. Several different companies make fillers, and each has its own unique formulations, which are useful for treating distinct problems in separate areas of the face.
By filling in certain areas of the face, we can contour and create the visage you’ve always dreamed of. Over time, dermal fillers are slowly absorbed by the body and most last anywhere from 12 to 24 months before necessitating a touch-up.
Dermal fillers and botox are both minimally invasive, injectable cosmetic treatments. Both are performed as outpatient procedures in the comfort of your doctor’s office and require minimal downtime. While both can improve the overall appearance of the face, they achieve this in different ways.
Botox is primarily used to treat fine lines and wrinkles. It is a purified form of the botulinum toxin, but is a safe, FDA approved treatment that has been used for several decades now.
Botox works by blocking nerve signals to the muscles that cause fine lines around the eyes, forehead, and mouth, also known as expression lines. By blocking the nerve signals, muscles in the injection site become temporarily paralyzed, thus softening or eliminating wrinkles from the area. These results can last up to three months, and the treatment takes about five minutes to complete.
Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are primarily used to rejuvenate the skin and add volume and fullness to various areas of the face. Different brands and types of fillers are made of varying ingredients, including:
- Hyaluronic acid, such as JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and Belotero®
- Calcium hydroxylapatite, such as RADIESSE®
- Poly-L-lactic acid, such as Sculptra®
- Polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres (PMMA), such as Bellafill®
Each of these fillers is designed to treat certain kinds of aging or other cosmetic issues. Depending on which one is used, they can last anywhere from 12 to 24 months. On average, treatment takes approximately 45-60 minutes.
Dysport®️
Dysport® is an FDA-approved purified neurotoxin prescription injection that is primarily used to treat moderate to severe frown lines. To effectively minimize the appearance of frown lines between your eyebrows, Dysport’s purified Botulinum Toxin properties weaken the muscles in your glabellar area. Dysport® is incredibly effective which is why it is frequently used to enhance other parts of the face.
Dysport® lasts anywhere from three to four months and usually takes up to seven days to take effect. The lifespan and effectiveness of Dysport® primarily depends on your physiological makeup, which is why we recommend consulting your doctor at Harper Aesthetics before beginning treatment. Some common side effects of Dysport® include headache, swelling, injection site pain, or nausea.
Hair Restoration
Hair loss can be the result of several underlying conditions, stress, or improper hair care. Many patients schedule an appointment once they notice that their hair is thinning or falling out, but sometimes, hair loss is not obvious.
Signs of hair loss include:
- Receding hairline
- Thinning of the hair on the scalp over time
- Balding that leaves the crown of the head exposed
- Sudden loss of patches of hair
- Loss of hair on the body
Here at Harper Aesthetics we use platelet-rich plasma therapy to help with hair restoration. Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a 100% natural way to harness your body’s own regenerative powers. In just 20 minutes, this treatment can help treat thinning hair and can help restore your confidence.
How does it work?
- Your blood is drawn normally, just as it would be done in your PCP’s office.
- The blood is then purified in a centrifuge to extract the plasma.
- The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is then injected into the areas in need of treatment using microneedles for maximum patient comfort and precision, stimulating your natural regenerative process.
Since the PRP is full of growth proteins, the injection will promote the growth of new, healthy hair. We use needles that are finer in diameter than a human hair, for maximum patient comfort.
Mild improvement will be noticeable within the first few weeks, but maximum results may not occur until the 4-6 month mark. Most patients will require several treatments to achieve their desired results.

Laser Hair Removal
Unwanted or excessive hair growth can leave you feeling down and less-confident about your appearance, while ingrown hairs can cause a lot of pain and unsightly bumps. In the past, treatment for these issues was only effective for lighter skinned individuals with dark hair, but fortunately laser hair removal has become more accessible and advanced in recent years. At our practice, we are able to safely treat people with virtually all skin types and hair colors.
Lasers emit a specialized, pulsed light, which is absorbed by the pigment in your hair and then transmitted down the hair shaft to the root. The hair follicle is damaged by the heat of the laser, which prohibits future growth.
Before your procedure, we will evaluate your skin and hair type in order for us to select the best laser to suit your needs. We will also thoroughly discuss the possible risks, your expectations, and the best ways to prepare for treatment.
The duration of each session varies depending on what area of the body you are having treatment. A small area such as the upper lip may take only five minutes, while a larger area like the back or legs may take up to one hour. The area should be shaved or cut short prior to treatment. For best results, we recommend that you do not wax or pluck hairs for three weeks prior to treatment.
Laser hair removal is safe and effective when performed by a physician or other licensed professional specializing in laser technology. At our practice, you can expect the highest level of treatment from our qualified professionals.
Restylane®
Restylane® makes several products, all formulated with hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar in our bodies that adds suppleness, hydration, and elasticity to the skin. These products include:

Xeomin™️
Xeomin™ is an FDA-approved, highly-purified neurotoxin prescription injection that is primarily used to treat moderate to severe frown lines. An alternative to Botox and Dysport, Xeomin™ is injected into your face muscles to soften frown lines and improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between your eyebrows, also known as glabellar lines.
The cosmetic effects of Xeomin™ last for a short period of time and block the release of the chemicals that cause your muscles to contract, which over time, result in frown lines. Xeomin™ lasts anywhere from three to four months and can take anywhere from 24 hours to ten days to take effect. The lifespan and effectiveness of Xeomin™ primarily depends on your physiological makeup, which is why we recommend consulting your doctor at Harper Aesthetics before beginning treatment. Common side effects of Xeomin™ include headaches, blurred vision, and injection site pain.
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is used to treat both men and women experiencing imbalances or drops in their naturally-occurring hormones. Hormones are responsible for most of your essential bodily functions, so when they are disrupted in any way, cascade effects across all your systems can ensue.
Symptoms that are common with menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, memory loss, weight gain, sleep issues, and low libido can be dramatically improved with BHRT. For many other conditions, BHRT can improve vitality, energy, mental clarity, mood, weight loss, and even muscle strength!
BHRT comes in several different forms, and at Harper Aesthetics, we carefully take into consideration your symptoms, medical conditions, and history before making a recommendation for a specific treatment.
IV Therapy
At Harper Aesthetics, we are pleased to offer IV therapies to our patients. We offer a wide range of treatments, from simple hydration to more customized therapies, including unique combinations of vitamins and minerals. We tailor each IV therapy session to the individual, depending on their needs and existing conditions.
The primary benefit of IV therapy is that it delivers the needed products directly to the bloodstream. Rather than waiting for nutrients to be absorbed through the digestive system, our patients can quickly receive them where the body will actually utilize them. Most therapies take between 15 and 30 minutes to administer, and we even have some patients come in on their lunch breaks!
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
Harper Aesthetics is proud to offer platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy to our patients. PRP has continued to grow as a reliable way to effectively treat sexual dysfunction, and even has aesthetic applications such as improving overall skin and hair health.
How does it work?
Our blood predominantly consists of plasma, which carries red and white blood cells and platelets. PRP is created by drawing some of the patient’s own blood and then using a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets within a sample of the plasma. This concentrated sample of platelets is then combined with the original blood sample. We can then inject this platelet-rich blood into the treatment area. While results may not occur immediately, many women experience improved sensitivity, functionality, and muscle tone while improving the performance of sexual function and bladder control.
Tattoo Removal
Unwanted tattoos can have you feeling self-conscious, bummed out, and downright angry. Luckily, with today’s laser technologies, what was once permanent can now virtually disappear with fewer treatments, faster recovery time, and greater results than ever before.
How does it work?
Advanced laser technology delivers pulses of energy into the tattoo ink, breaking up the pigment into smaller molecules which are then absorbed by the body. The result is less unwanted pigmentation and smoother, clearer looking skin.
Results may vary depending on the ink colors used in the tattoo. Typically, red inks and darker colors respond well to laser treatment. Other colors may be difficult to remove, although there will still be a noticeable improvement.
Injectables
Loss of volume is a common concern for many patients, and is one of the most prominent signs of aging. Injectables are able to replace the lost volume and help to smooth out wrinkles, plump the lips, and help to restore a more youthful appearance.
Here at Harper Aesthetics we offer a variety of options when it comes to your treatment. Common injectables include Juvederm, Restylane, lip augmentations, wrinkle treatment, and scar removal. You can speak with your doctor during your consultation on what injectable will benefit you the most and which will help to achieve your goals.
During your consultation, we will evaluate the areas that you are concerned about and review your medical history. We want to make sure that the treatment is safe and you will be happy with the results you receive.
Depending on the area that is being treated, you may experience results immediately. Some patients may have mild bruising or swelling; however this will be temporary and will subside over a few days. There is no downtime with injectables, so you will be able to go back to your regular routine right after treatment. The results are also not permanent. You will want to continue to receive treatment every 6-12 months.

What is a HydraFacial?
Hydrafacial treatments work to improve congested and enlarged pores by combining cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection all in one easy step. Hydrafacials are considered a hydradermabrasion treatment and are able to be performed on all skin types.
Does the HydraFacial help with wrinkles?
Yes! This treatment option can help to improve the appearance of wrinkles in combination with a healthy home skincare regimen. For best results, we recommend maintaining touch up treatments.
How long do results last for peels?
Results will vary depending on the depth of the peel. You may have some flaking for 2 weeks after your treatment revealing the new, glowing skin underneath. While each patient will have their own unique experience, the peel will usually help brighten your skin for a few months following treatment. When done correctly, chemical peels are very healthy for your skin!
request an appointmentDermaplaning
At Harper Aesthetics we offer dermaplaning as a skincare treatment that helps to exfoliate your skin and regenerate new skin cells. This procedure helps to accelerate skin cell turnover allowing you to leave our office with glowing, radiant, soft, and youthful skin.
Our technicians will prepare and cleanse your skin before using a medical-grade scalpel to gently exfoliate the outermost layers of your skin. This includes removing dead skin cells and fine facial hair commonly called “peach fuzz”. A finishing solution will be applied to help cleanse your pores after treatment and protect your skin from irritation and redness.
Dermaplaning works to diminish fine lines and scarring, improve skin tone and texture, and promote healthy skin cell growth. There is no downtime and results are seen immediately. This treatment option also enhances the penetration of makeup and other skincare products.
This treatment is safe and effective for all skin types and provides an alternative treatment option to chemical peels or microdermabrasion. It can also be combined with other forms of treatment to allow products or treatments to penetrate deeper into the skin more evenly.

As the name suggests, skin tightening is the process of tightening loose skin on the face, neck, and body through cosmetic procedures. Skin tightening can be used to reduce the effects of aging, promote firmer skin, and restore youthfulness. These treatments can be done in our office, and often, with little to no local anesthesia or numbing cream needed.
Skin tightening treatments include:
- Collagen supplements: Supplements used to increase the amount of collagen in your body and improve skin health over time.
- Microneedling: Also known as collagen induction therapy, this procedure repeatedly punctures the skin with tiny, sterile needles to promote collagen production and naturally tighten the skin.
- Ultrasound skin tightening: Also known as ultherapy, this non-invasive procedure uses micro-focused ultrasound to lift and tighten your skin.
- Radiofrequency skin tightening (RF): Uses radio frequency energy to heat the underlying tissue to encourage subdermal collagen production to reduce the appearance of loose skin.
- Spillover skin tightening: Used to melt away pockets of unwanted skin to firm up the overall look and feel of the targeted area.
- Surgical skin tightening: Includes various forms of plastic surgery.
To begin, we will identify the best cosmetic skin tightening solution for you depending on the targeted area and your desired result. Many skin tightening treatments require no downtime, while the downtime for some more severe procedures such as surgical skin tightening may vary.

Body Sculpting
What is non-surgical body contouring?
This treatment option uses radio frequency (RF) to damage and kill fat cells in a non-invasive way. This alternative offers zero downtime and provides a smoother and slimmer appearance over time.
What type of body sculpting should I choose?
We offer a few options for body sculpting and can discuss which treatment is best for you during your consultation.
NuEra smoothes the skin using a temperature controlled radio frequency system that is minimally invasive and offers zero downtime. Most patients report that the treatment process is quite comfortable and describe the experience comparable to a warm massage. This technology heats the surface of the skin and penetrates deeper tissue to treat small pockets of fat on the buttocks, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, and back.
EmSculpt offers similar benefits, but also works to tone muscle while burning fat. This treatment is ideal for those looking to help define muscles.
Scar Revision
Here at Harper Aesthetics, we specialize in scar revision. We are proud to assist patients in Bristol, VA and the surrounding areas.
Scar revision surgery will help to minimize scars so that they look more consistent with the surrounding skin tone and texture. When you are involved in an accident or have surgery, many times scars develop. Many people become embarrassed or self-conscious of their scars. That is why we are so proud to offer scar revision services.
When a wound heals, it can still result in a scar. Scars can be raised or recessed and can be a different texture, size, or shape than the rest of the surrounding area. Our goal is to help your scar blend in as much as it possibly can.
There are many different treatment options for scar revision. Although a scar can never be completely erased, we can assist with the healing process and provide a more pleasing cosmetic result.
During your initial consultation, we will speak with you about the goals you have for your scar. We want to make sure that you have completely realistic expectations and will be one hundred percent honest with you at all times. We want to exceed your expectations and provide you with the most comfortable and stress-free experience possible. If you ever have any questions before or after the surgery, you are always welcome to ask us.
